About Kristin

For more than two decades, I have dedicated my career to serving the people of Tuscarawas County. Since taking office as Tuscarawas County Commissioner in January 2023, I have worked to strengthen county government, encourage responsible fiscal management, support economic development, and improve the quality of life for residents throughout Tuscarawas County.

I bring a unique combination of legal experience, community leadership, and practical problem-solving to county government. My collaborative approach has helped build strong relationships with local governments, businesses, community organizations, and state officials while keeping the needs of county residents at the center of every decision.

Experience That Serves the Community

I graduated from Emory University before earning my Juris Doctor from the University of Dayton School of Law. I have spent more than 30 years practicing law, including serving as a partner at Black McCuskey before founding my own legal practice.

My background as an attorney, mediator, and Guardian Ad Litem has provided the experience needed to evaluate complex issues, resolve conflicts, and make informed decisions that benefit Tuscarawas County residents.

Long before serving as County Commissioner, I devoted thousands of volunteer hours to organizations that improve the lives of local families.

If re-elected as your County Commissioner, I will focus on:

Continued responsible management of taxpayer dollars
Economic development and job creation
Infrastructure improvements
Support for public safety
Ongoing collaboration with townships, villages, and municipalities
Transparent county government
Strategic planning for future growth
Pursuing state and federal grant opportunities
Supporting local businesses and workforce development

I believe that thoughtful planning and fiscal responsibility help ensure Tuscarawas County remains a great place to live, work, and raise a family.

Serving as your County Commissioner has reinforced my belief that effective government depends on communication, accountability, and cooperation.

I continue to work alongside my fellow commissioners, elected officials, community organizations, businesses, and residents to address both today's challenges and tomorrow's opportunities while protecting the values that make Tuscarawas County one of Ohio's strongest communities.

Family

My husband, Dr. Joseph Zemis, and I have been married for more than 35 years. We are proud parents and grandparents who have called Tuscarawas County home for many years.
